Nominating Committee Report

The ILHS PTSA Nominating Committee has officially presented the slate of candidates for 2025-26.

• For the Office of President: OPEN
• For the Office of Vice President: OPEN
• For the Office of Secretary: Karin Potter
• For the Office of Treasurer: Krystal Parker-Meyer

View report here. We are excited to introduce dedicated individuals who are ready to serve our school community.

The ILHS PTSA encourages anyone interested in serving in an elected role to self-nominate during our May 29th General Membership Meeting. Electing officers is a critical step in making sure the PTSA can operate and continue to do all the awesome things we do next year - like school & student grants, community programs, emergency preparedness, senior events, and more!

Self-declarations for positions will be called for during the General Membership meeting on May 29, 2025. If there is a contested position, we will proceed with a ballot vote. If no position is contested, we will hold the election by voice vote.

Your leadership and voice matter! Let’s work together to keep our PTSA strong!

If you have questions about these roles or the self nomination process, please email nomcom@ilhsptsa.org.

Volunteers Needed for Reunification Drill

  • Wednesday, April 23, 2025
  • Afternoon (approx 3:00PM)
  • Location will be announced to participants the day of the drill.
Don't worry, the location will definitely be inside NSD boundaries.

We’re seeking parent/guardian volunteers to help practice the school reunification process in case of an emergency evacuation. Volunteers will receive an alert, be directed to a location, and go through the steps of picking up a paper “student.” No actual students are involved.

🔹 Ensure your ParentVue contact info is up to date
🔹 Bring a photo ID for check-in

Curious about what a reunification process looks like? Here is a video that gives a basic overview: Overview of The Standard Reunification Method (SRM)

2025 Legislative Update
By Marie Sullivan, legconsultant@wastatepta.org
Wednesday, March 12 was the deadline for bills to pass out of the chamber in which they began. The Senate celebrated the cutoff by passing E2SSB 5263 by a vote of 48-0 – funding special education – while the House worked beyond the 5 PM mark, debating dozens of amendments until 2:30 AM on ESHB 1296, their version of the “parent’s rights” bill.House versions of bills to fund special education (SHB 1357) and school district operating costs (SHB 1338) failed to pass the House by this cutoff but Senate bills on the topics are alive and well. Read the full blog post here.
